Benefits of membership

While the meetings are open and free to the public, there are definite advantages to becoming a member of the society.  The group affords members opportunities to network with others as well as to receive periodic emails about events (of our society as well as other genealogical and historical organizations), news items of particular interest to club members, updates on meetings and related events, etc. Members receive quarterly updates of the email addresses of those in the society who wish to have their addresses made available, making networking between meetings even easier. Members are also invited to present programs of particular interest to the rest of the group in exchange for a year's membership.  New members receive a "how to" welcome packet with forms and suggestions for beginning their family history research (while people can join by mail, packets must be collected at a general meeting). Members also get the log-on information to gain access to the Members' Only page on this website.

Members are also encouraged to participate in the society's mentoring program, providing personal assistance to those either needing help with either beginning genealogy research or using computers (for genealogical purposes).  To become part of this new program of the society, please complete the submission form.
